Unfortunately, it is not. Many are raised with the idea that baby teeth don’t matter, so why bother taking care of them?’ Unfortunately, this is far from the truth. Cavities on baby teeth can affect adult teeth, by causing premature loss of teeth leading to more expensive measures like orthodontics. Cavities cause significant pain to children. The most worrisome is the potential of an infection that can leave a child hospitalized. Generally, what is consumed is the major cause leading to cavities in children. Things like soda, juice, candy and even milk can cause cavities and other problems, like baby bottle syndrome. However, consumption is only one part of the preventable problem. Give Kids A Smile Program On February 6th The Laser Dental Group participated in the American Dental Association Event "Give Kids A Smile". Dr. Ivy Injung Hwang along with Registered Dental Hygienist Marcia McCallum had both volunteered their time and services, to provide dental screenings, treatments and education to children in New Jersey. Give Kids a Smile is a program that was started by The American Dental Association in 2003 and has grown into 40,000 plus volunteers servicing more than 350,000 children. Children were seen in our Union office, located on 1205 Coolidge Avenue.
