Tooth Shedding

"Mama my tooth came out" are words that parents hear many times,  20 times to be exact.  Children start shedding their baby teeth at age 5 or 6 normally the front teeth are the first to go.  We have a wonderful interactive Dental Developmental Chart on our website which we encourage you to use as a tool to monitor your own child's dental development.  This is important because if the baby teeth are stubborn the child can end up with Shark Teeth, where the permanent teeth erupt in front of or behind the baby teeth.  Or if they come out too early the child may need spacers to save the spot for the adult tooth.  That is why it is best to start office visits at age 1.

If you have any questions please feel free to call or visit us at either our Union 908-686-2040 or Westfield 908-232-2136 office.
